OUR SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
At Bloomfield we care about the planet and our environmental impact, and we are committed to sourcing in the most sustainable and responsible way possible.
We are continually looking to improve the use of sustainable materials and processes when designing new products and packaging, using wherever possible materials that are sustainable, recyclable, reusable, and reduce waste.
We will eliminate all unnecessary plastic packaging, and actively reduce the use of plastic wherever we can.
We require our suppliers to comply with the requirements of local, national and international laws related to environmental standards.
We will track progress made with our suppliers and will show transparency in this matter.
We choose the most efficient transportation for shipping of goods and will source locally wherever practical.
We minimise our own travel and offset our employee carbon emissions.
Our Suppliers and Manufacturers
We expect our manufacturers to:
Uphold strict ethical, environmental and social standards.
Comply with local environmental laws as minimum, and freely provide us with their policies.
Work with us to reduce waste, where practical minimise the use of plastic and provide sustainable options for our packaging, ensuring that processes are as kind as possible to the environment.
Use efficient transportation methods, for example consolidating shipments where possible.
Make continuous progress in improving efficiency and sustainability of their operations to minimise the use of energy, water and raw materials.
Selection of Materials and Ingredients
We are proactive about sourcing sustainable and environmentally friendly materials wherever viable in our products and packaging.
Examples include:
Specifying all paper, cardboard and timber used is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified as standard.
Choosing eco-friendly inks, print finishes and embellishments that can be recycled and/or are biodegradable.
Using sustainably sourced, natural materials such as Bamboo fibre that are biodegradable, compostable and renewable for fabric items and home wares.
If specifying Palm Oil, it must come only from either Organic or RSPO certified sources.
That all cotton used is sourced from responsible growers and producers. Wherever possible we specify preferred cotton (either organic, recycled or sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative).
Where possible using jute over cotton where possible or hemp as an alternative to linen.
Using RPET and fabrics made from recycled materials.
Utilisation of Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP) - recycled plastic collected from coastal areas at risk of pollution.
Wherever possible we avoid single-use plastics defined as:
All films and sleeves (we would recommend instead a 100% compostable/biodegradable film such as PVA)
All plastic bags
All PVC
All expanded polystyrene
All composite plastics.
